• Composition

• Lawn – Many lawns are composed of cool-season grasses so during the spring and summer months they are not very active. These types of grasses include Kentucky bluegrass, fescues, and perennial ryegrass. To prepare them for the winter, they should be fertilized in two increments. First, it is recommended to use a fertilizer high in nitrogen around mid September. Around Thanksgiving, or before the ground has frozen, use a high phosphorus fertilizer.
